“She stirred ladies and gentlemen. Is it that time?”
“No, she’s not moving. I shall curl up again and close my eyes.”
“She did it again! Is it morning yet? I need to pee. But I don’t want to leave the bed.”
“Finally the alarm! Now she must really get up!”
“Or not. She fell back asleep again.”
“I’ll not move either.”
“It’s the 2nd alarm! This has to work! I’ll help. I’ll nudge her very gently, show her how cute I am.”
“Oh those scratches! And pets, and massages, yes, right there, more, more, more!”
“Time to go, time to go, time go!”
“Yes, I know how to step into the harness, do you know how to take on your shoes?”
“Sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff!”
“C’mon Missy, you’re being slow again!”
“I smell a bird! Or a squirrel! Or a fix! Or a boar!”
“It’s a dog. It’s me. It’s Missy.”
“Yes, I’ll sit for you and twirl and jump, but be quick, I’ve an urgent and important job of smelling everything.”
“Ro-ro-rolling, rolling, rolling! Love this grass!”
“I don’t wanna go home yet. Maybe if I smell everything, we’ll just stay out.”
“We’re home. Hi Sissycat!”
“Awk, it’s the terrace again. An open area where we can be attacked. Missy is a daredevil!”
“Food! I fear it’ll be taken from me, so lets eat as fast as possible.”
“Do you have more?”
“You go tip-tip-tip on that laptop of yours, I go and… nah, I’ll just sleep.”
“What’s that? Ah nothing? Ok then, I’ll go back to sleep.”
“Stop shouting Sissycat, I’m sleeping!”
“Wait, she’s getting food. Why am I not getting food? Missy? I’m hungry!”
“Food! I’ll eat quick so it cannot be taken from me.”
“Sleep…”
“Requesting hugs.”
“Sleep.”
“You’re stressed, you need to hug me!”
“We go walking! Sniff, sniff, sniff, run, run, run, collecting treats.”
“Missy-hour, my favourite. Is this what you want? That I crawl? Sit? Twirl? What do you want, I can smell the treat on you so just give it, give it, give it!”
“Sleeping. Good. Happy.”
“Massage. Lounging together. Alright Sissycat, don’t take her attention, Missy is mine!”
“Closing my eyes.”
“Let’s go to bed. Do the long sleep. Snuggle before. But not so hard. Sleep. We’re sleeping. Dreaming. Living.”
I read this post nodding yes with my head all the time, I recognise so much of this with our own dog (now almost 8 months old). The “you’re stressed, you need to hug me”, yes isn’t that so, the dogs do notice your mood. And they observe everything we do, all the time.
You seem to have a such a good time together, Mia is in a good home!

Thank you for that, yes, we’re quite a good match. And the “hug-breaks” are the best! 💚

It’s very interesting to put myself in her “shoes” (paws??) I do wonder a lot what she’s feeling but writing it down brings up more details, especially about myself 🙂
