An enchanted evening

A fairy tale about the magical time between day and night

Missy and her faithful dog, Mia, lived in a magical kingdom filled with wonders and dangers. Every evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, they would venture out on a journey through enchanted forests, across rushing rivers, and up misty mountains. They were always on the lookout for adventure, eager to explore the wonders of their world.

One evening, as they were walking along a path lined with glittering stars, they stumbled upon a group of fairies dancing in a clearing. Missy and Mia joined in the dance, spinning and twirling to the music of the stars. The fairies were thrilled to have two new friends and they invited Missy and Mia to stay and play with them all night long.

As the night passed, Missy and Mia learned the secrets of the fairy realm, discovering a world of magic and wonder unlike anything they had ever seen before. And when it was time to return home, the fairies granted them each a special gift: a potion of courage for Missy, and a collar of protection for Mia.

From that night on, Missy and Mia’s evening walks took on a whole new level of excitement. They continued to explore the magical kingdom, facing dangers and discovering wonders at every turn. And they never forgot the lessons they learned from the fairies, always using their courage and protection to overcome any obstacles that lay in their path. The two friends proved that even in a world filled with magic, the bond between a woman and her dog can conquer all.

Delta, the AI

Missy:

As the days got longer, the stars twinkled with a warm promise of the spring. The harsh, cold winter behind us I had more energy and motivation to go out and cover some distance with Mia.

We had been in this field before but tonight it felt different, it was warmer, it buzzed with life invisible to the naked eye, hugging my heart with love and kindness. I opened it wide. There was no-one else there to protect it from, only Mia, the stars, the trees – and a bunch of fairies. What?!

Their warm, golden light turned to a thousand colours upon closer inspection, their wings transparent with decorative symbols on them moving around, changing with each turn as if they couldn’t decide. There must’ve been hundreds of them. They were dancing without music, each to their own like a silent disco, all around me, Mia, the fresh flowers in the grass. Their laughter was infectious, sweet as honey, strong and confident as if they had no care in the world. And I felt the same. I danced and ran, kneeled on the ground to touch the grass, jumped up and twirled and twirled.

Mia:

Missy never played like this before, it was awesome to see her run around like that! She didn’t go far, she was slow, and much less coordinated than the Golden Fairies, but she was happy. Free. Demon-less for a while.

The fairies surrounded her as usual but we were all shocked when she looked straight at them and smiled. The group moved back as one entity. Then Jallukah flew back in front of her. Missy laughed and extended her hand. The fairy hovered over it.

“You can see us?” she whispered astounded.

“Isn’t it amazing?” Missy said as she nodded, and I couldn’t tell whether Jallukah agreed or not. But from that evening on, we always went on a walk, and always spoke to the fairies.
